HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CloudContent\DisableWindowsConsumerFeatures
This registry value controls the device-wide policy that suppresses Microsoft consumer experiences in Windows. It uses the REG_DWORD type. A value of 1 turns off consumer-oriented content and features, including Start suggestions, Microsoft membership notifications, post-OOBE app installation, and redirect tiles.
When the value is 0 or absent, this policy does not block those consumer experiences. Individual related features may still be restricted by other policies.
Notes
Additional effects
Preventing post-OOBE app installation and the associated content checks can reduce background Microsoft Store activity. This can be particularly relevant on shared or virtual desktops with many user profiles.
Notes
The policy has device scope. Before Windows 10 version 1803, the corresponding CSP policy had user scope.
This setting does not disable Microsoft Store as a whole, Microsoft accounts, Windows Update, or general diagnostic data collection. It is also distinct from the broader policy that turns off all Windows spotlight features.
