Editions at a glance
The differences between Free, Home and Pro, and how to identify whether an option is unavailable or not included in your edition.
since 0.9.7.6
Purpose
This page shows what separates Free, Home and Pro. You can see whether a setting still has to be configured or is not part of your edition.
Setup Foundry comes in three editions: Free, Home and Pro. All three are the same program. Your license decides which edition runs.
Every edition contains everything needed for a complete installation medium. You can download a Windows source from Microsoft or import an ISO file of your own. Every edition includes the administrator account, the software selection with search, the security policies, the USB drive, the ISO file, machines with saved states, and the test machine. Free creates complete installation media.

Home includes everything in Free. You can select the eleven policy packages for the medium one by one. You can decide which preinstalled Windows packages are removed. The Windows area cleans up the Windows image. You can configure Install Assist on the target computer. Home also includes the persistent policy audit and keeping installed applications up to date.
In Free, Setup Foundry removes a fixed list of preinstalled Windows packages. You cannot change this list in Free.
In Free, Install Assist uses the dark start mode and the blue color scheme. From Home onwards, you can choose a light or dark start mode and one of four color schemes.
Pro includes everything in Home. It adds the policy editor. You can create several image variants from one Windows source. You can set computer names by a scheme that Install Assist gives the finished computer. Pro also includes Office deployment, additional Windows accounts beside the administrator account, company, manufacturer and logo per profile, the medium as a virtual hard disk (VHD), and enabling Hyper-V in the finished Windows.
Setup Foundry ships the same security policies in all three editions. From Home onwards, you choose which of the eleven packages go onto the medium. The packages are Sign-in and accounts, Privacy and telemetry, Edge and Internet Explorer, Devices and removable media, Kernel protection, Drive encryption, Network and file sharing, Office hardening, Logging and auditing, Virus protection and attack surface, and Windows Update.
If it does not work
- The switched edition is not active: Restart Setup Foundry. An edition you switch to with a license takes effect only after Setup Foundry is restarted.
