Reset activations

Reset all activations of a license at once in your customer account when no further computer can be activated.

since 0.9.8.2

Purpose

A license is valid for a fixed number of computers, usually two. Each activation takes one seat. When a computer is sold, reinstalled or lost, its seat stays taken, and Setup Foundry reports at the next activation that all seats are taken.

"Reset activations" clears all activations of the license at once; all seats are free afterwards. Then you simply activate the computers you keep using again.

Availability

The reset runs in your customer account on the website, not in the application. Every purchased license belongs to a customer account; there is no way without an account. For a beta license without a customer account, contact the person who sent you the invitation.

Steps

  1. Sign in to your customer account on the website.
  2. Open the license whose seats are taken.
  3. Click "Reset activations" and confirm the prompt.

Result

All activations of the license are reset and all seats are free. On the computers you keep using, open License… in the Help menu and click Activate. The license stays the same, and so does the code.

Notes

The reset changes nothing about the license itself: term, edition and number of seats stay as they are.

The reset is possible once per week. If you move computers more often, deactivate the license with Deactivate before you hand a computer on. This frees all seats at once.

A computer that is not activated again after the reset keeps running as Free. Data and settings are kept.

If it does not work

  • "All activation slots for this license are in use." still appears: The reset has not run yet, or the week since the last reset is not over. Check the date in your customer account.
  • You cannot sign in to your customer account: Request a new access code on the sign-in page. The account belongs to the email address of the purchase.
  • The license does not appear in the account: Write to the vendor and state the license number.
  • Beta license without a customer account: Write to the person who sent you the invitation.
