WalletService
WalletService is a Windows system service that hosts runtime objects used by digital-wallet clients.
since 0.9.8.11
Purpose
Identifier: WalletService
Setup Foundry sets the service startup type to Manual.
WalletService is a Windows system service that hosts runtime objects used by digital-wallet clients. It is not a standalone wallet application and does not provide its own user interface. Applications or Windows components can request the service when they need its wallet infrastructure.
Notes
Privacy and security
Microsoft’s documentation does not identify specific categories of data stored by WalletService or any independent transmission from the service to Microsoft or third parties. Any processing of payment, identity, or other information therefore depends on the wallet client and the feature being used.
Changing the startup type to Manual does not delete existing wallet data or prevent a client from transmitting data after it invokes the service or other networking components. While WalletService is not running, it does not process requests from wallet clients.
Effects of the change
Manual is not the same as Disabled. The service does not have to remain running because of an automatic start, but Windows, an application, or an applicable service trigger can still start it when wallet functionality requires it. Its facilities are then available to the requesting clients.
If WalletService was already configured for Manual startup, its startup behavior does not change. If it was previously configured to start automatically, it will instead start on demand. Changing the startup type alone does not automatically stop an instance that is already running.
Setup Foundry neither removes the service nor uninstalls a wallet client. Wallet features should therefore be affected only if the service cannot be started when requested for some separate reason.
