HKCU\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PushNotifications\NoToastApplicationNotificationOnLockScreen
This registry value corresponds to the user-scoped NoLockScreenToastNotification policy defined in WPN.admx. When the policy is enabled, applications cannot display toast notifications on the lock screen.
The restriction applies only while the screen is locked. It does not generally disable application toast notifications during the signed-in, unlocked session. If the policy is disabled or not configured, Windows permits lock-screen toast notifications, although separate administrator or user settings can still suppress them.
Notes
Security
Toast notifications can contain information such as messages, email subjects, or calendar reminders. Preventing them from appearing on the lock screen reduces the risk of exposing this information to someone who has not signed in.
The setting affects application toast notifications only. It does not automatically hide other lock-screen content, such as status information or widgets.
Notes
The policy is evaluated in the user context and therefore does not automatically apply to every user of the device. It is distinct from the broader policy that disables all application toast notifications, which uses the registry value NoToastApplicationNotification.
Microsoft states that the policy takes effect without restarting Windows or any service.
