This ADMX-backed policy setting disables the Internet Explorer feature that evaluates the browser’s security settings to determine whether they expose Internet Explorer to risk.
When the policy is disabled or not configured, the Security Settings Check feature remains active. The policy does not modify the security options being evaluated; it controls only whether this assessment is performed.
Notes
Security
Turning off the feature removes an Internet Explorer security check. Consequently, configurations that the feature would identify as potentially risky are no longer detected by that mechanism and may remain unnoticed.
The policy does not itself disable individual protection mechanisms, alter security zones, or grant additional permissions. Its practical security impact depends on the Internet Explorer security settings that are otherwise in effect.
Notes
The two registry locations represent the same policy at different scopes: HKLM applies to computer configuration, while HKCU applies to user configuration. Microsoft documents the policy for both device and user scope.
