Turn off all Windows spotlight features
This per-user registry value disables all Windows spotlight features for the affected user.
since 0.9.8.11
Purpose
Show registry keys (1)
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CloudContent\DisableWindowsSpotlightFeatures
This per-user registry value disables all Windows spotlight features for the affected user. The scope includes Windows spotlight on the lock screen, Windows Tips, Microsoft consumer features, and other related content and suggestion experiences.
Microsoft documents the value as REG_DWORD. A value of 1 activates the restriction. When the corresponding policy is disabled or not configured, Windows spotlight features remain available and can still be restricted through their individual policy settings.
Notes
Additional effects
Because Windows no longer retrieves and displays Windows spotlight content, traffic to the Microsoft services used for that content can be reduced. The value does not generally disable all connections to Microsoft, diagnostic data collection, or the Microsoft Store.
Possible side effects
Dynamically delivered lock-screen images, Windows Tips, and affected recommendations and notices are no longer shown. Users therefore also lose content intended to introduce new or changed Windows features.
Notes
The setting applies separately to each user because it is stored under HKCU. While the broad restriction is active, less restrictive policies for individual Windows spotlight features cannot enable those features again.
