HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\SoftLandingEnabled
A DWORD value of 0 disables the delivery of Windows tips known as “soft landing” for the current user profile. This suppresses tips and suggestions that Windows may present after the Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE) or during subsequent use.
The setting applies only to the signed-in user. It does not disable every Windows spotlight feature or separate experiences such as the Windows Welcome Experience, Start suggestions, or the automatic installation of suggested apps. Those features are controlled by other settings.
Notes
Possible side effects
Users may no longer receive contextual guidance about new or less familiar Windows features.
Notes
SoftLandingEnabled is a per-user Windows preference rather than a documented policy value under a Policies key. Microsoft does not document this exact registry value separately. The corresponding officially documented policy, “Do not show Windows tips,” uses Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CloudContent\DisableSoftLanding instead and has a different scope and inverted value semantics. The behavior of the internal preference described here may therefore change between Windows versions.
