Disable Click to Do
Setting this `DWORD` value to `1` disables Click to Do at the device level.
since 0.9.8.11
Purpose
Show registry keys (1)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsAI\DisableClickToDo
Setting this DWORD value to 1 disables Click to Do at the device level. The Click to Do component and its entry points are unavailable to users of the computer.
Click to Do is an AI-assisted Windows feature that, when invoked, captures the visible screen, analyzes the screenshot locally, and offers actions for recognized text or images. With the value set to 1, users cannot launch or use this feature for screen content outside Recall.
Notes
Security
Disabling the feature prevents Click to Do outside Recall from analyzing screenshots or sending selected content to an application or online provider as part of a chosen action. It does not restrict other screen-capture or content-processing features, applications, or services.
Possible side effects
Actions provided through Click to Do become unavailable. Depending on the detected content, these can include summarizing or rewriting text, performing a visual search, and passing selected content to supported applications.
The destination applications themselves are not disabled. Only their integration as action providers within Click to Do becomes unavailable.
Notes
This setting does not affect Click to Do within Recall. Disabling or restricting Recall requires separate policy settings.
The policy reference currently identifies Windows Insider Preview as the applicable operating system. An observable effect also requires Click to Do to be available on the device; Microsoft documents the feature for Copilot+ PCs and eligible Cloud PCs.
