Show suggestions occasionally in Start
This DWORD value controls a specific Content Delivery Manager subscription for the current user.
since 0.9.8.11
Purpose
Show registry keys (1)
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\SubscribedContent-338388Enabled
This DWORD value controls a specific Content Delivery Manager subscription for the current user. On supported Windows 10 versions, setting it to 0 disables subscription category 338388, which is associated with occasional app and content suggestions in Start.
The change suppresses corresponding Microsoft-provided recommendations in that part of the Start menu. It does not remove installed apps, pinned items, or other parts of the Start layout.
Notes
Possible side effects
Recommendations from this content category are no longer shown in Start. This can also hide suggestions for apps or services that Windows would otherwise present to the user.
Notes
This is a per-user preference under HKCU, not a documented Group Policy registry value. It applies only to the affected user profile.
Microsoft does not document the numeric subscription identifier 338388 in its public policy reference. Its association with Start suggestions is known for Windows 10, but the same behavior cannot be assumed for every Windows release.
This value does not turn off all Windows spotlight features or all subscribed cloud content. In particular, it is not equivalent to the policy that disables all Windows spotlight features. Lock-screen images, Windows tips, the Windows welcome experience, and suggestions in the Settings app are controlled separately.
