Documentation

SubscribedContent-338381Enabled

Setup Foundry writes `0` as the DWORD data for this value.

since 0.9.8.11

Purpose

Show registry keys (1)
  • HKU\.DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\SubscribedContent-338381Enabled

Setup Foundry writes 0 as the DWORD data for this value. The value belongs to the Windows Content Delivery Manager and, based on its name, acts as a switch for numbered content subscription ID 338381.

Microsoft does not publish a display name, functional description, or supported policy mapping for this individual registry value. Official documentation therefore does not establish which specific Windows experience ID 338381 represents in a given Windows release. In particular, there is no documented basis for claiming that this value alone disables Windows Spotlight or all subscribed cloud content.

Notes

Possible side effects

If the installed Windows release evaluates this subscription ID, content associated with it might no longer be delivered or presented in the affected registry context. Because Microsoft does not document the mapping, the visible result and continued support for the value can vary between Windows versions.

This value is not a documented global control for cloud communications. Other Windows Spotlight experiences, recommendations, or online content can remain active when they are governed by separate settings.

Notes

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT is a separate registry hive backed by %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\DEFAULT. It is not the same as the new-user profile template stored in C:\Users\Default\NTUSER.DAT. Consequently, a value under HKU\.DEFAULT does not automatically configure existing or newly created interactive user profiles.

For disabling all Windows Spotlight features, Microsoft instead documents the user-scoped Turn off all Windows spotlight features policy, corresponding to Experience/AllowWindowsSpotlight. Its documented Group Policy mapping uses Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CloudContent\DisableWindowsSpotlightFeatures; it is not equivalent to SubscribedContent-338381Enabled.
