Disable OEM preinstalled apps

This per-user DWORD value controls OEM-related app offers processed by the Windows Content Delivery Manager for the current user profile.

since 0.9.8.11

Purpose

Show registry keys (1)
  • HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\OemPreInstalledAppsEnabled

This per-user DWORD value controls OEM-related app offers processed by the Windows Content Delivery Manager for the current user profile. A value of 0 disables this delivery channel. Associated OEM apps should therefore not be subsequently enabled or installed for that user as part of Windows content delivery.

The value does not uninstall existing apps or remove app packages provisioned by the device manufacturer in the Windows image. Independently provisioned packages can still be registered for a user when that user signs in.

Notes

Possible side effects

OEM apps intended to provide additional device features, support information, or manufacturer offers through this delivery channel might not appear in the user profile. OEM software installed through other mechanisms, including traditional desktop applications, is not directly affected.

Notes

OemPreInstalledAppsEnabled is an internal, per-user Content Delivery Manager value, not a documented ADMX Group Policy setting. Microsoft does not publicly document the individual registry value or guarantee its behavior across current Windows releases. Its exact effect can therefore depend on the Windows version, the OEM image, and other Content Delivery Manager settings.

This value is distinct from PreInstalledAppsEnabled, SilentInstalledAppsEnabled, and the Turn off Microsoft consumer experiences policy. Those settings govern different or broader parts of Windows app and content delivery.
