HKU\.DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\FeatureManagementEnabled
FeatureManagementEnabled is an internal DWORD value associated with the Windows Content Delivery Manager. Microsoft does not publish a technical reference defining the supported data for this value or its precise effects. It therefore cannot be reliably established that setting this value to 0 by itself disables rotating lock-screen images.
Microsoft documents Windows spotlight as the feature that can present changing lock-screen images and additional content such as tips or organizational messages. However, the documented policy for controlling this feature uses ConfigureWindowsSpotlightOnLockScreen, not FeatureManagementEnabled.
Notes
Notes
HKU\.DEFAULT is not the registry hive for the Windows default user profile from which new user profiles are created. Microsoft maps HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT to the system file %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\Default. The actual default user profile hive is stored in C:\Users\Default\NTUSER.DAT and must be loaded separately when it is serviced.
Consequently, writing this path does not automatically place the value in newly created user profiles. Because the value is also not a publicly documented Windows interface, Windows versions or execution contexts may interpret it differently or ignore it. It must not be treated as equivalent to the documented Windows spotlight policy.
