Disable the lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen
A `DWORD` value of `1` prevents Windows from displaying the lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen for the entire device.
since 0.9.8.11
Purpose
Show registry keys (1)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\DisableLogonBackgroundImage
A DWORD value of 1 prevents Windows from displaying the lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen for the entire device. The sign-in screen uses a solid-color background instead.
The value affects the sign-in screen where Windows presents user accounts and sign-in options. It does not remove or disable the background on the lock screen itself. This distinction applies whether the lock screen uses a static picture, a slideshow, or Windows spotlight.
Notes
Possible side effects
Users can no longer carry their lock screen background over to the sign-in screen. The device-wide policy value overrides the corresponding personalization preference.
If an organization supplies a specific lock screen image, that image can remain visible on the lock screen while being omitted from the sign-in screen.
Notes
Despite descriptions that refer to a “dynamic” logon background, the value disables the sign-in screen background picture generally, not only rotating or dynamically supplied images.
It is also distinct from DisableAcrylicBackgroundOnLogon. That separate value controls the acrylic or blur treatment applied to the sign-in background without disabling the underlying picture.
Microsoft documents the associated Windows feature and its device-scoped state, but does not provide a dedicated public reference page containing the complete registry mapping for DisableLogonBackgroundImage.
