HKU\.DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\SubscribedContent-353698Enabled
In older Windows 10 releases, the SubscribedContent-353698Enabled DWORD is associated with the per-user preference for occasional suggestions in Timeline. A value of 0 suppresses those suggestions. It does not disable Timeline itself or prevent activity history from being stored or displayed.
“Disable suggested apps and content” is therefore broader than the demonstrated effect of this value. This individual setting does not generally disable app recommendations, automatically delivered apps, or every form of suggested content in Windows.
Notes
Possible side effects
On Windows 10 versions that honor the setting, Timeline no longer presents its tips and recommendations. Existing activities and the other Task View features remain available.
Windows 11 does not include the Timeline user interface, and activity history has also been discontinued in newer Windows releases. No corresponding visible effect of this value is documented for those systems.
Notes
Microsoft does not publish a dedicated reference for the internal value name SubscribedContent-353698Enabled. Its association with the former Windows 10 preference is therefore version-dependent and is not documented as a stable, supported policy interface.
The specified path is under HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT. This hive is not the profile of a signed-in standard user, nor is it the template stored under C:\Users\Default from which new user profiles are created. Settings for a signed-in user normally reside in that user’s own HKEY_USERS\‹SID› hive, exposed as HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Consequently, the literal path shown above has no documented effect on existing or newly created ordinary user profiles.
