HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\SubscribedContent-353696Enabled
This registry value belongs to the per-user content subscriptions managed by Windows Content Delivery Manager. When stored as a DWORD with a value of 0, it disables the subscription identified by 353696 for the affected user. That subscription is associated with suggested content in the Windows Settings app.
Suggestions can introduce Windows features or recommend content and apps that may be of interest to the user. The value affects presentation within Settings; it does not disable the Settings app or the features, content, or apps being promoted.
Notes
Security
This setting does not change user rights, file permissions, or other security boundaries. It also does not automatically turn off personalized offers, the Windows advertising ID, Start menu recommendations, Windows tips, or other content-delivery channels. Those features have separate settings and, in some cases, separate registry values.
A value of 0 does not establish that Windows stops processing diagnostic or usage data. It controls the relevant content subscription and is not a general privacy or telemetry policy.
Possible side effects
The Settings app may no longer present some notices about new or unused Windows features or recommendations for potentially relevant content and apps.
Notes
Microsoft documents the corresponding user-facing setting for Windows 10 and Windows 11, but does not publish a standalone technical reference defining SubscribedContent-353696Enabled as a stable, supported registry interface. Depending on the Windows version, additional SubscribedContent-* values can participate in controlling suggested content. This individual value therefore must not be treated as a complete policy for disabling every suggestion or suggested app.
On recent Windows 11 versions, the related option may appear on the “Recommendations & offers” privacy page; earlier versions place it under general privacy settings.
