Configure Edge Website Typo Protection
`TyposquattingCheckerEnabled` controls Edge Website Typo Protection.
since 0.9.8.11
Purpose
Show registry keys (1)
HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\TyposquattingCheckerEnabled
TyposquattingCheckerEnabled controls Edge Website Typo Protection. When the mandatory machine-level registry value is set to 1 as a REG_DWORD, Microsoft Edge keeps the feature enabled and does not allow users to turn it off.
The feature displays a warning when an entered web address appears to be a misspelling of a commonly used domain and might lead to a potential typosquatting site. Such lookalike domains can be used to mislead users about the identity of the site they are visiting.
Notes
Security
Website Typo Protection can reduce the likelihood of users reaching an impersonating site after mistyping an address and then disclosing credentials or other sensitive information, or accessing malicious content.
This value enables the warning feature but does not, by itself, prevent users from bypassing a warning and continuing to the site. Enforced blocking of that action is controlled separately by PreventTyposquattingPromptOverride.
Website Typo Protection complements Microsoft Defender SmartScreen; it does not replace SmartScreen protection against known phishing, malware, and other unsafe sites.
Notes
This policy is supported on Windows in Microsoft Edge 96 and later. It is not profile-specific and supports dynamic policy refresh.
