Notes
Notes
This is not a documented Group Policy registry value. It must not be treated as equivalent to Turn off Microsoft consumer experiences or its DisableWindowsConsumerFeatures registry value, which also controls Start suggestions, post-OOBE app installation, and other consumer experiences.
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT is not the registry hive of the Windows default user profile stored under C:\Users\Default. Microsoft documents that the default profile hive must be loaded separately from C:\Users\Default\NTUSER.DAT when it needs to be edited. Consequently, an entry at the path shown above is not inherited by newly created user profiles merely because it resides below .DEFAULT. Windows can instead map HKEY_CURRENT_USER to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT for a process whose security context has no loaded user hive.
Because Microsoft documents neither this value nor its evaluation under HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT, no reliable effect on OEM apps for an interactive user or future user profiles can be confirmed for the specified path.
