Get Fun Facts, Tips, Tricks, and More on Your Lock Screen
This per-user `DWORD` value controls supplementary content displayed over the lock screen background.
since 0.9.8.11
Purpose
Show registry keys (1)
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager\RotatingLockScreenOverlayEnabled
This per-user DWORD value controls supplementary content displayed over the lock screen background. That content primarily includes fun facts, tips, tricks, and similar information supplied by Microsoft.
The value 0, as set by Setup Foundry, disables this lock screen overlay for the affected user. It does not disable the lock screen itself or, by itself, stop Windows spotlight from rotating background images. It also does not normally change the selected lock screen background.
Notes
Possible side effects
Microsoft’s supplementary information and interactive prompts are no longer available on the lock screen. Lock screen widgets and status information in newer Windows releases are controlled partly by other settings and might therefore remain unaffected.
Notes
This value is not stored in a registry policy branch. Microsoft does not document it as a standalone Group Policy setting or as a supported CSP mapping, so its precise behavior can depend on the Windows version and the lock screen implementation.
Disabling the overlay is not documented as preventing all Windows spotlight content downloads or associated network traffic. Other Windows spotlight features are governed by separate settings.
