Disable AI Recall
Current Microsoft documentation does not define a Windows policy or interpreted value semantics for the `DisableRecall` registry value.

Purpose
Show registry keys (1)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsAI\DisableRecall
Current Microsoft documentation does not define a Windows policy or interpreted value semantics for the DisableRecall registry value. There is therefore no documented basis for claiming that setting this DWORD value to 1 disables Recall, prevents snapshots from being saved, or deletes existing Recall data.
Creating the value only places the specified data in the registry unless a Windows component explicitly reads that value name. Microsoft does not document such processing for DisableRecall.
Notes
Security
This value should not be treated as a verified security control against the capture or retention of Recall snapshots. Without documented enforcement, DisableRecall=1 provides no substantiated guarantee that the intended protection is active.
Notes
DisableRecall must not be confused with Microsoft’s documented Recall policies under the same registry key, including:
DisableAIDataAnalysis, which controls whether screen snapshots can be saved for Recall. Microsoft documents that a value of1prevents snapshot saving and deletes previously saved snapshots.AllowRecallEnablement, which controls the availability of the optional Recall component. A value of0makes Recall unavailable; removing the component requires a device restart.
The behavior of these similarly related values cannot be attributed to DisableRecall.
