Widgets button
This per-user Windows 11 registry value controls whether the Widgets button or Widgets area is visible on the taskbar.
since 0.9.8.11
Purpose
Show registry keys (1)
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\TaskbarDa
This per-user Windows 11 registry value controls whether the Widgets button or Widgets area is visible on the taskbar. When the REG_DWORD value is 0, the taskbar element is hidden. Weather information, notification badges, and rotating announcements supplied through Widgets are consequently no longer shown there.
The value changes only the taskbar presentation for the affected user. It does not disable the Widgets Board, widget providers, or their content.
Notes
Possible side effects
Hiding the button removes direct mouse access to Widgets from the taskbar. Glanceable information such as weather conditions and widget notifications is also no longer visible there.
Notes
This setting applies to the Windows 11 Widgets experience. The Widgets Board remains accessible with Windows key+W and, on supported devices, through the corresponding swipe gesture.
TaskbarDa is a personalization setting and is not equivalent to the device or Group Policy setting Allow widgets (AllowNewsAndInterests). That policy controls whether the Widgets feature is allowed on the device.
