If the policy is disabled or not configured, the collector is normally turned on.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"notes\">Notes\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"additional-effects\">Additional effects\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>Enabling the policy also prevents the Program Compatibility Assistant from collecting installation data. It does not turn off the Program Compatibility Assistant itself.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"security\">Security\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>Turning off the collector limits the transmission of system inventory data to Microsoft. Information gathered by this mechanism about installed applications, files, devices, and drivers therefore does not leave the system through the Inventory Collector.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>This policy does not disable Windows diagnostic data collection in general or prevent other Windows components from sending data to Microsoft.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"possible-side-effects\">Possible side effects\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>Because the affected inventory and installation data is no longer collected, it is unavailable for compatibility diagnostics that rely on that information.
